Excessive Heat Warning For Las Vegas

The National Weather Service has advised an excessive heat warning in effect for Clark County, Nevada which includes all of Las Vegas Valley. Dangerous heat will rise to 113° or more. Temperatures were 110° today. The excessive heat warning was issued from 11a.m. this morning, 23 August 2011 until 8p.m.Saturday, 27 August. [NOTICE: Excessive Heat Warning has been extended until further notice! Possibly cooling off after tonight, Monday 29 August...] Remember ground temperature can be 10 to 15° higher than air temperature so this heat wave can turn deadly in a hurry. Drink plenty of water to stay hydrated. Stay inside in shelters, cooling shelters or air conditioned buildings. Avoid alcoholic beverages which can dehydrate you and monitor the weather channels for changes in the reporting status.
